Why is it that fitness is so slow to come, but so quick to leave? Just over 6 months ago, I completed an Ironman and just over 3 months ago, I ran a marathon. But, since the beginning of the year, I haven't exercised much because I've been sick and/or out of town. And after I decided not to train for Ironman this year, the motivation hasn't been there.
Then my friend asked if I wanted to go running this past Saturday. I knew it would be painful, but I agreed to go. I wish I could tell you it was easy, but that would be a lie. We did a hilly ~7-mile run and I had to walk lots of it. I even managed to roll my ankle on a rock towards the end of the run.
Now, I realize that a hilly 7-mile run is not exactly "easing" back into a routine, but when have you ever known me to ease into anything?
